I am leaving my place of work next week. I have worked for the business for almost nine-years, which, given that I’m only 29, represents my entire professional life.
I joined the business after University as a management trainee, and I have worked in each of the main stages of the supply chain before ending up in the finance department. I have enjoyed my time here. However, now is the time for change.
My new enterprise is commercially sensitive, so I will not be releasing any info on the project until September. I’m not being deliberately precious; it’s just the way things are with this particular project at the moment. But needless to say the new business will demand a great deal of time and effort. And it’s a challenge I’m up for.
It’s strange to be leaving my present organisation. It’s a big company but I know everyone at the top and I have very good relationships with senior managers and the board. I’m leaving my comfort zone, but I have a great opportunity to broaden my skill-set and increase the returns on my effort and time.
Things to look forward to: –
No clues, but expect to see more comment on marketing and business development…

well, tyger, sounds like you’ll be taking on some exciting new challenges. Great idea to be able to work a little more from home while your kids are young. The secure jobs will always be there if you need them, so don’t worry about leaving all that behind. If being your own boss has its appeal for you, its well worth a crack. Good luck.

i am obviously not the first, but let me also wish you, your family, and your colleagues all the very best in the coming months.i look forward to your posts about business and marketing with fevered interest, who knows, maybe your the next alan sugar…or richard branson?*actually theres a thought, which would you rather be, an alan sugar or richard branson? branson who took on ba or sugar, who rules the boardroom and seems the type to take on a richard bransom upstart….i’d like to think i’d be a richard branson type, bold and daring….afterall, life is about siezing the oppurtunities….(rambling) so good luck 🙂

Thanks Jose and spyder – to have so many friends is humbling.Sugar’s Amstrad business has not been the greatest long-term success;he made much of his money in property, I believe.Branson is a walking success, but the myth built around him is a little much.I’d like to think I can pay the mortgage and treat myself to the stonking new C-Class next year!

Well I wouldn’t say I’m a Mercedes man!I like the new C-Class, which is not on sale yet, and I like the SL 500 and CLS, but I’m not particularly a Merc lover. I do like the 7-Series, and the little 1-Series is growing on me (in white with back wheels, very cool). The new 3-Series can go hang, though. Hideous car.Audis all look the same. But I do like the R8 – wow, what a design…
