judgement day for hillary

4 Mar

It’s obviously a big day for the Democratic Party. Unless the Hilldog can pull a huge win in one of the biggies, then she’s over. Passed on. No more. Ceased to be. Expired. Gone to meet her maker. In fact, even if she does win Texas or Ohio, unless she wins very big she’ll be under pressure to allow Obama a free run against McCain. The Dems are very much aware that the longer she and Obama tear strips off of each other, the less work the Republicans have to do.

But really, with the US economy about to go into a recession and the dollar now at record lows, who’d want to take on the presidency right now?

The Dems ought to be hoping that the economy goes South this year, and that they – rightfully – allow Bush and the Congress to take the blame exclusively. If Obama or Hillary does win, and then within months of the inauguration a recession really kicks off, the rightwing spin machine will have a field day.

I predict Obama will take Texas, and that Hillary will not do enough. She’ll take the weekend to mull over her future, and then she’ll announce her retirement from the race. Obama and his team should respectfully not push for her to withdraw, and let a good senator leave the field with grace.

I was listening to some rightwing talk radio over the weekend, and already they’re treating Obama as the candidate. They claimed he’s a dangerous leftwinger, and that, overwhelmingly, he has the most leftist voting record in the senate. This is such bollocks. Obama’s record puts him slap-bang in the middle of the Democratic Senate majority. He’s easily the most centrist of the original Democrat hopefuls – even, in certain areas, moderately rightwing.

Your prediction was wrong, Clinton won. Then again nothing is set in concrete.
