bush visits iraq

3 Sep

No-doubt spouting more tub-thumping nonsense as Petraeus ‘n Crocker prepare their reports for Congress.

It is claimed that the “surge” of 30,000 extra US troops is working – certainly the US media has swallowed the official line. I have always argued that we should either put in the troops necessary to establish order or get the hell out of Dodge. If the surge is working, and the reports of Sunnis joining forces with the Americans against the insurgency are true, then we should hold firm and commit to preventing all out war.

But if this is – as I fearfully expect – just more dis-information, then we and the Americans have no further part to play in Iraqi history and should get our sorry asses out.
